I knew that scene wasn't for real! We actually rewound and paused it, trying to figure out where in SF it could be. The biggest tip-off was that there is no Two Boots in the Bay Area. The graphic changes are pretty amazing; it really could be any place in SF. Another giveaway though was that the TransAmerica building appears lone in the skyline, whereas in reality it's surrounded by a lot of other buildings. Thanks for the info!

Why do people automatically through the race card in. Not all Hispanics are hipster, Jesse I agree with you when people actually used the
park to play and have fun not as a place to exercise they didn't care, now they do. Really messed up! and I been living here for 32 years tired of all these hipsters saying they lived here for ever which is 1year.

it is a COMPLETE discrimination issue.
people do not sit back and do nothing.. it seems as if the voice only matters if the individual behind such voice do not account for the people who have long resided in echo park.

these "hipsters" have invaded communities and it is a sad reality they there are attemtpting to invade our communities and rid our cultural identities

MAYBE los angeles is NOT the place for hipsters...

first come first serve....

I.Sometimes find myself on The way to The Store,

In the Old Neighborhood near the Oil Fields.
Just like in one of those Late Nineteenth Century Photographs.

@Alois Saint-Martin, "I. Think the Mexican Vendors and Fast Food Establishments provide a needed service for the ” Working-Class ” Residents of the Community."

Couldn't agree more. I just wish this 7-11 wasn't going in at the least pedestrian-friendly intersection in Echo Park. It's dangerous!

If it's an oil well it will need a permit from DOGGR (Dept of Oil Gas and Geothermal Resources) and likely a City and/or County permit that could be looked up.

I was driving up Glendale Blvd from Downtown yesterday and noticed that there is a drill rig parked in a lot next to the meat market in the vicinity of the intersection of Glendale and Rockwood. I don't know what exactly they are drilling for, but the rig looks to me like the same type that are used for oil production. I have seen these types of rigs in the South Bay (Wilmington, Carson) at active oil production sites.

As a geologist, and an Echo Park resident who frequently rides there bike to work along this route, it would be interesting to know what they plan on doing at this site.

The draining of MacArthur Park lake in 1974 resulted in a wonderful art exhibition of assemblages of junk saved from the lake including a miniature submarine. The assemblages were by James Woods who owned an antique store nearby. The exhibition was at Otis Art Institute and included paintings of Echo Park by Carlos Almaraz. I also remember the draining of the Venice canals and the assemblage artists who poked the mud there for treasures. Too bad the artists can't get muddy in Echo Park Lake. Too much worry about liability today.

No matter what Echo Park and the surrounding neighborhoods will "out hip" the rest of LA. I am currently working on a Calabasas estate and bringing life into this modern abode with the color scheme going. If the neighborhood can avoid the home depot replacement windows and smearing the stucco all over the craftsman then it will even be cooler....

He was hanging out at our house for a few days. He's such a sweetie, though dirty and pretty roughed up. There was paint on his fur and his snout was damaged. Our landlord said he is a homeless dog that had been abandoned, and I had been communicating with the Southern California Bulldog Rescue to get him some medical attention and help him find a family. Unfortunately he was not long enough for that to happen - I think a neighbor came and took him in. Whoever has him right now, let me know that he's okay and being taken care of; I have been worried about him :(

I think I've seen this dog hiking with a man and another dog on the trail in Elysian Park. It may be worth posting a flier there?

Always liked Our little Parade. A Resident of Echo Park at One Time or Another for the last 46 Years and a Twenty First Century Utopian Socialist, I. Loved the "About Echo Park" segment to the Website. Over the Years Echo Park has seen many Changes, and will undoubtedly experience many more in The Future. Lets Keep in Touch
