Hi, my name is Gil Centeno and I grew up in the Echo Park neighborhood and I’m very concerned about your new plans to drain the park for two years and cover the bottom with concrete – essentially sterilizing the park and it’s unique eco-system. The beauty of Echo Park is due to the fact that it is a natural bottom lake, and is home to its own unique eco-system which attracts many species of birds and other wild life you don’t see in any other park in the city. It is a jewel to be treasured – a time capsule of an earlier simpler time and should be presevered as a historical monument. I do agree the park needs to be better maintained, for it is heavily used by the public and we need to bring back the crown jewel of the park ‘the lottus’ which most be brought back at any cost. Also the Boat House should be opened at least on Sundays for all to enjoy. Oh, and before I forget – please remove those stupid fish pods from the middle of the lake -they really are an eye-sore. I thank you for your time and consideration – Your feed-back would be greatly appreciated.
